Photos | Asante Kotoko Team Bus Involved In Ghastly Accident, One Confirmed Dead


Information reaching is that the team bus of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been involved in an accident at Nantia near Nkawkaw in the Eastern region.

The Kotoko team bus according to unconfirmed reports ran into a stationary truck loaded with rice, with registration number AS 7329-13 on the road.

It is has now been confirmed that the team’s equipment officer, Mr. Thomas Obeng Asare has died.

Some of the players including skipper Amos Frimpong, Baba Mahama, Ahmed Adams as well as assistant coach Godwin Ablordey are responding to the treatment at the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw but the head coach, Steve Pollack is said to be in a critical position.

The team was returning to Kumasi after the match day 22 encounter with Inter Allies in Accra.

Meanwhile, management has urged supporters to remain calm as they will be briefed at the appropriate time.

“Players and officials on our team bus returning to Kumasi after our game with Inter Allies in Accra have been involved in an accident.

“The accident occurred around 9:45pm at Nkawkaw, when our bus ran into a stationary vehicle.

“Management requests that fans stay calm. A full statement on the incident will be issued in due course.”
