Unwillingness to fight corruption has been identified as one of the lowest point in the Akufo-Addo’s led government by the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII).
Describing the government’s commitment in the fight against corruption as unimpressive, the non-partisan, non-profit civil organisation and anti corruption group says the president’s resolve to curb the menace is inadequate.
The Executive Director of the GII, Linda Ofori Kwafo who was speaking prior to President’s Akufo-Addo’s encounter with the media today on his performance so far, said little has been done in that regard.
According to her, most Ghanaians are not are not impressed with the government’s commitment to fighting corruption since there have been several corrupt cases but they have gone uninvestigated.
“From where I sit and from the point of the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) I wouldn’t say we are wholly satisfied.”
“Most Ghanaians are not very much impressed with the way and manner these matters are being addressed. The swiftness I think we are not seeing it at all and we are not very happy with the manner in which government is approaching the anti-corruption fight.”
