Free SHS Brouhaha | GES Cracks The Whip: Two Headmasters Dismissed, Nine Interdicteed

True to several warnings to deal ruthlessly with any official who sabotages the Free SHS Policy, the Ghana Education has cracked the whip on two officials for charging unapproved fees.

The two, the Headmaster of  Pentecost SHS in the Eastern region Mr. Wisdom Blazu and the Assistant headmaster of Daffour Senior High School, Rev S.P Eleworkor have been ordered to step aside with immediate effect.

One other person, the Headmaster of Daffour headmaster S.C.K Agbeke has also been cited  for failing to perform his supervisory role.

Nine other Headmasters have also been cited for various acts of infractions contrary to the guidelines outlined by the GES for the implementation of the policy.

The interdicted heads include:

1. Headmistress of Kwenyarko SHS Mrs Florence Pra

2. Ahantaman SHS headmistress Mrs Mercy Ocloo

3. Ekumfi Ameyaw SHS Techiman Julian Okon and his Assistants Jacob Barzon and George Frimpong Kwarteng

4. Headmaster of Assiwa SHS Christian Attram

The rest are the Headmaster of  La Presbyterian SHS in the Greater Accra region, Samuel Salamat who refused to appear before the GES  to respond to the charges and Rev. Franklin K. Boadu, the Headmaster of Aggrey Memorial who has been invited to Accra to explain why he has underdeclared.

According to the Director General of Ghana Education,  Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwaah, they arrived at the decision after they initiated claims of extortion against 19 heads of second cycle intitutions.

He added that in the case of Rev. Franklin K. Boadu, he has refused to admit students under the guise of no accommocation and blames the GES for placing more students than his school can accomodate.

But the GES finds the decision to be strange considering the fact that at least 955 students were placed at Aggrey Memorial in 2016.
