The District Police Commander for the Bosome Freho district of the Ashanti region, ACP Denis Boateng has been shot.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning at Nsuta after the commander and his men had stormed the town to effect some arrest in a murder case.

According to Ghanaxtra.com sources, whilst the team was returning from the scene of the murder, they were ambushed by some unknown assailants.

The assailants without any form of provocation opened fire on the police officers after they had stopped to remove a roadblock that had been mounted.

In the melee, the police commander was shot in the neck and is currently at the Emergency unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Three others, including two Community Police Personnel and the driver of the District Chief Executive for the Bosome Freho district, sustained gunshot wounds.

One person has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Meanwhile, checks by this portal indicates that the Nsuta township has virtually become a ghost town.

Background

On Friday November 9, 2018, some unknown assailants attacked and butchered a 59-year-old farmer identified only as Obodai to death.

The farmer was sending his son to school in Nsuta when he was attacked.

His lifeless body was found with machete wounds to the head, shoulders, arms and other parts of the body.

His son who was also attacked however survived the attack and identified the suspects.
