Number 12, an investigative piece by one of Africa’s finest undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has won Sports Investigative Reporting at AIPS Sports Media Awards in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The news was revealed by Anas himself on his official Facebook page: “Number12 [#12]wins Sports Investigative Reporting at AIPS Sports Media Awards in Lausanne, Switzerland. Tiger Eye PI has dedicated the award in honour of Ahmed Suale. #RIP bro.”

The AIPS Sport Media Awards are the highest international accolade in the sport media industry.

The Awards, currently in their first edition, offer recognition to the very best sport storytellers across all media platforms, from photography to video, from print to digital, from podcasts to sports blogs.

The Number 12 exposé by Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team zeroed in on corruption in football on the African continent.

The two-year undercover operation filmed almost a hundred football officials engaged in various forms of corrupt deals to influence the outcome of matches.

So far, officials who were found complicit in the video have received punishments ranging from suspension to life bans from all football-related activities.
