Kintampo: Over 64 Passengers Feared Dead In Fatal Accident (Updated)

A fatal accident involving two buses has claimed over 64 souls at Watchman Ampomakrom near Kintampo in the Bono East region.

More than 30 other passengers also sustained varying degrees of injuries.

According to sources, the accident occurred after a Garu-Kumasi bound VVIP bus with registration number GT 3915-17 collided head-on with a Grand Bird bus with registration number GT 5694-18 around 1:30 am this morning.

The VVIP bus reportedly burst into flames after the accident burning most of the passengers on board.

Most of the deceased including the driver of the VVIP have been burnt beyond recognition.

The cause of the accident is not readily known.

In February 2016, a similar accident on the same stretch claimed 53 lives after a Metro Mass bus and a truck rammed into each other.

Twenty-three other people also sustained life-threatening injuries.
