The second edition of the 3Music Awards 2019 came off over the weekend at the Fantasy Dome in Accra.
Described as the second biggest Ghanaian Music programme in the country, the programme indeed lived up to the billing as patrons had a memorable night.
The dome was lit as patrons enjoyed some electrifying performances from various musicians.
But organisers of the programme have come under some kind of criticisms for failing to observe a minute of silence two for two of the industry’s bigwigs who died this year.
Nii Ashitey of Wulomei, Willi Roi and the legendary Prof Emeritus Nketia deaths are more recent but organisers couldn’t spare just a minute for them.
Maybe a genuine mistake, but we cannot organise an award programme for musicians and forget to recognise some fallen heroes.
This mistake which can be described as faux pas is not only an elementary blunder but it also depicts our attitude as Ghanaians towards fallen heroes.
We at Ghanaxtra.com recognise the contributions of hard-working musicians and we will continue to champion their names in even after they are gone.
RIP Roi, RIP Prof Emeritus Nketia, RIP Nii Ashitey! You duely and surely paid your dues.
