The Northern Regional Police Command is on a manhunt for some suspected highway robbers.
The robbers are alleged to have snatched an official vehicle of the Savannah Regional Minister, Salifu Adam Braimah.
The robbers numbering about five per police sources carried out the attack at a place near the Tamale township.
The driver of the Toyota Hilux pick-up vehicle with registration number WR 3516-19 had dropped the Minister at the Tamale airport and was returning to Damongo when he was attacked.
Wielding guns, the robbers reportedly stopped the driver in the middle of the road, pulled him out of the vehicle and tied him to a nearby tree before bolting with the vehicle.
He was later rescued by some good samaritans hours later.
No arrest has been made.
