Northern Region: Police Arrest 5 Over Killing Of Female Police Officer

The police in the Northern region have apprehended five suspected criminals for their alleged involvement in the murder of a female police officer.

The suspects were arrested at their hideout following a police intelligence over their roles in the murder of Corporal Agartha Nana Nabin.

According to police sources, the  suspects opened fire on the police forcing the police to respond in measure.

The ringleader of the group per unconfirmed reports sustained gunshot in the process and is currently on admission at the Tamale Teaching hospital.

The Police team retrieved the two stolen weapons, the camouflage military uniform and mask they wore for the operation from the room of one of the suspects.

A source reveals that some of the suspects arrested were part of some young men who had issued death threats to the murdered law enforcer earlier after she denied them access to their friend in Police cell some weeks ago.

Background

Armed men shot and killed a policewoman with the Northern Regional Police Command on the Tamale-Kumbungu road in the Sagnarigu District.

The four men  who wore masked and were dressed in military camouflage matched with dessert boots on board a grey saloon car shot the deceased killing her instantly.

They absconded with two rifles, one belonging to the deceased police officer and a female colleague who stumbled and fell in her attempt to take cover.

The Police administration subsequently announced a GH¢10,000 reward for anybody who would give credible information that would lead to the arrest of armed men.

A team of officers from the Criminal Investigation, Intelligence and National Operations Departments of the police were also despatched to Tamale to support investigations into the murder of the police officer.
