The elections is expected to be held in all the 106 constituencies that the party has no sitting Members of Parliament (orphan constituencies).
The elections shall be supervised by the Electoral Commission of Ghana through their respective District Offices and supported by the various Constituency Parliamentary Elections Committees.
Some constituencies have been placed on the priority list and the party will be keeping a close eye on such constituencies.
One such constituency that is on the radar of the party is the Banda Constituency in the Bono region.
The Banda seat has eluded the NPP since its creation in 2012 and so electing a formidable candidate to battle it out the giant Ahmed Ibrahim of the NDC is key.
Will it be Joe Danquah, Paul Baffoe, Farizana Bintu Ibrahim Banda or Dr Felix Kwame Opoku?, the verdict is apparently in the hands of the kingmakers(delegates) who are mandated by the party’s constitution to make the choice.
But before the verdict tomorrow, a research organisation, Integrity Network Support Services has predicted the contest to go to the wire.
According to a report released by the Henry Osei led outfit, there are slight indications that Mr Paul Baffoe might be cruising to victory.
The report, however, revealed that “ground factors” such cash inducement and open display of support by regional executives can tilt the results in favour of either Joe Danquah or Dr Felix Kwame Opoku.
Ghanaxtra.com will keenly monitor the elections in the Banda constituency as well as those in the other 105 constituencies and we promise to keep our cherished readers up to speed.
