NBA Legend Kobe Bryant dies with daughter in a helicopter crash on their way to Mamba Academy to see a game.
Basketball legend Kobe Bryant has died in a helicopter crash.
Kobe was traveling with his thirteen-year-old daugther, Gianna Maria Onore, when their chopper went down and caught fire, killing all nine people onboard.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that they heard the helicopter’s engine sputtering before it crashed.
Reports are that Kobe and his daughter GiGi — a rising star basketball player — were on their way to see a basketball game when the crash occurred.
Kobe’s impressive records in the game ranks him as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
He was a first-round pick in the 1996 draft and during his twenty-year career with the Lakers, the legend made 18 All-Star teams, won 5 NBA championships, 2 NBA Finals MVPs and was the league MVP in ’08.
His records also include making it onto 15 All-NBA Teams, 12 All-Defensive Teams and led the league in scoring for two seasons. He ranks fourth in the NBA for all-time regular season scoring and all-time postseason scoring.
Kobe represented USA in a number of Olympics games, winning two gold medals.
His long career had a lot of highlights. At just 34 years of age, Kobe became the youngest player in NBA history to surpass the 30,000 point mark. His 81 point game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006 was one of the greatest performances in modern NBA history.
After retiring in 2016, Kobe took up acting and subsequently won an Oscar for his short film, “Dear Basketball,” in 2018.
Kobe Bryant was just 41 years old and is survived by his wife Vanessa and daughters, Natalia, Bianca and Capri, who was just born in June 2019.
