A financier and staunch member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Effutu Constituency, James Kofi Annan has quit the party to join the opposition NDC.

The resignation of James Kofi Annan per information available to GhanaXtra.com takes immediate effect.

According to him, his resignation from the NPP is as a result of acts intimidation and victimisation that he has suffered at the hands of some elements within the NPP in the Effutu Constituency.

He reveals that his decision to join the NDC is because the NDC is all-embracing and accommodating compared to the vindictive NPP.

“I did a lot to help Afenyo-Markin and the NPP. Yet when they assumed power, Afenyo-Markin has been allowed to do a lot to destroy everything that is associated with me and to destroy Winneba, particularly the University of Education, Winneba, and the festivals of the town. I now feel more at home with the NDC”.

James Kofi Annan was a pioneer member of TESCON (Legon Chapter) during his days at the university.
