Some residents of Sunyani in the Bono region have been subjected to severe assault for failing to observe a traditional order by the Sunyani Traditional Council to wear black or red attire.
According to an order from the Sunyani Traditional Council as part of the funeral and burial rites of the late queen-mother, Nana Yaa Nyamaa Poduo II, residents are to be seen in public wearing a black or red attire until the funeral is over on Saturday.
To enforce the order, “traditional warriors” have been dispatched in town to ensure people comply with the order.
The “traditional warriors” have been captured in a video chasing down and beating residents who failed to comply with the order.
Meanwhile, the Bono Regional Police Command has announced it is investigating the matter.
Is it force to obey traditional laws?
