A serious water crisis has hit Battor-Nyatikpo in the North Tongu District of the Volta region, Ghanaxtra.com can report.
Residents walk over seven kilometres in search of water, a situation which is affecting economic and social activities area.
The situation has forced residents in the area to resort to drinking water from unwholesome sources.
The residents do not only share water with animals but the water is also unhygienic and full of impurities and bacteria.
Some of the residents who spoke to this portal decried the situation and appealed for boreholes to be drilled in the area.
The Assembly Member for the area, Dominic Senyo Yahesu who sounded very passionate about the issue revealed that all efforts to get the District Assembly to intervene has proven futile.
He has therefore appealed to NGOs and other related organisations to come to their aid in order to avert any epidermic.
