Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central constituency, Honourable Kennedy Agyapong has criticised his colleague legislators who benefited from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund) Scholarships.
According to the say it as it is MP, such MPs are shameless and cheap as the GETFund scholarships are reserved for needy but brilliant students.
Speaking on Oman FM, Ken Agyapong singled out colleague legislator, Adwoa Safo and chastised her for “disgracing” herself.
He reveals that Sarah Adwoa Safo shouldn’t have cheapened herself by applying for such a scholarship which amounts to nothing.
“Is Adwoa Safo claiming that she can’t afford GHC22,000, it’s a shame…Adwoa is so industrious, she is into several businesses, his father [and] I could have even paid for her so I am surprised that she will go and take GHC22,000, it’s cheap on her side, very cheap.”
There has been wide public outcry ever since the content of a performance audit report of the Auditor-General on the administration of scholarships by GETFund became public.
The report cited Education Minister Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, Procurement Minister and Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo as well as the Executive Secretary of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Prince Hamidu Armah as some of the beneficiaries from the scheme.
