Social media has reacted to President Akufo-Addo’s order for the suspension of all public gatherings.
The ban which takes effect from Monday, March 17, 2020, affects all religious gatherings in the country as well.
But social media has received the ban on religious gatherings with some level of misreaction considering the fact that there is an exemption for nightclubs, hotels and drinking bars.

President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo yesterday ordered the suspension of all public gatherings.
The announcement by the president follows the confirmation of four new cases of the novel Coronavirus COVID-19 in Ghana, bringing the number to six.
In a televised address to the nation, the president ordered a 4-week suspension of public gatherings including conferences, workshop, festivals, funerals, sporting events and religious activities effective Monday, March 16, 2020.
“All public gatherings, including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious activities, such as services in churches and mosques, have been suspended for the next four (4) weeks. Private burials are permitted, but with limited numbers, not exceeding twenty-five (25) in attendance…
“…Establishments, such as supermarkets, shopping malls, restaurants, night clubs, hotels and drinking spots, should observe enhanced hygiene procedures by providing, amongst others, hand sanitizers, running water and soap for washing of hands;”
