The manager of English football club Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has contracted the deadly Coronavirus.
A statement released by the club on Thursday announced that Arteta had tested positive for the virus and would be self-isolating as per the government health guidelines.
All of the club’s first team players who have had a close contact with the head coach would similarly self-isolate.
Arteta said he boldly took the test after feeling unwell.
“This is really disappointing but I took the test after feeling poorly. I will be at work as soon as I’m allowed.”
After Arteta’s positive test was confirmed on Thursday evening, the Premier League announced it would hold an emergency meeting on Friday morning regarding upcoming fixtures.
It has been confirmed, however, that Arsenal’s match against Brighton originally schedule on Saturday is called off after the Gunners close their training grounds.
