Popular Ghanaian preacher, Nicholas Osei, is unhappy that President Akufo-Addo has ordered the suspension of all religious activities for four weeks.
Prophet Kumchacha as the founder and leader of the Heaven’s Gate Ministries is affectionately called believes the decision will stifle the ministry of funds.
He argues that most churches will struggle to survive considering the fact they depend on offertory and payment of tithes from congregants to survive.
Speaking on Kofi TV, the outspoken preacher described the decision by President Akufo-Addo as nonsense as it will now be difficult for the church to take offertory.
“They should spare us that crap. How do we take the offertory? Nonsense!”
“…mobile money? Even when the ban was not in force, payment of such monies was problematic how much more when transactions are done via mobile money? You people are just against our survival through the offertory”.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, March 15, 2020 directive all outdoor events including funerals, church activities and naming ceremonies, are suspended for a period of 4 weeks.
The move forms part of government’s plans to prevent the spread of novel Coronavirus which so far killed over 5,000 people globally.
Even though seven positive cases of the COVID-19 have been recorded in Ghana, no deaths have been recorded so far.
