Government of Ghana has imported a stone from Jerusalem, Israel for the foundation of the National Cathedral.
Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Shani Cooper presented the stone to President Akufo-Addo at the sod-cutting ceremony in Accra, ahead of actual work which begins on Friday, March 6, 2020.
According to Ambassador Cooper, the religious stone symbolizes the sacredness of the land earmarked for the project, coming from Jerusalem regarded as the most sacred site in the world.
She hoped that Israel’s participation in the construction of the National Cathedral will improve diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The special stone, experts say, possesses strong spiritual powers and abilities to strengthen the foundations of the national cathedral and protect the entire nation.
When completed, the 5000-capacity interdenominational cathedral, will have chapels, a baptistery, Bible museum, music school and an art gallery.
