Tourism Minister’s Assistant arrested for stealing a phone

Police have arrested an aide to the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture for stealing a phone belonging to a staff of parliament.

The suspect, Nana Sekyi, was arrested on Wednesday March 18, 2020, after a complaint was lodged by the owner at Parliament police station.

Nana Sekyi reportedly stole the Huawei 230 phone and later switched it off after victim mistakenly left it at the foyer of parliament.

After combing around and not finding it, the owner of the phone reported to Parliament’s Marshal Department who audited the CCTV footage and caused the arrest of the culprit.

Sources at the police station allege that the suspect has confessed to have committed the crime.

He has been detained in police custody pending further investigations.
