The West African Examination Council(WAEC) has suspended the 2020 West African Senior High School Certificate Examination for School Candidates until further.
An inter-office memo dated March 19, 2020, and sighted by GhanaXtra.com attributes the suspension to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.
A portion of the memo reads: “The negative impact of the novel and deadly COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent protocols put in place by governments of member countries to prevent the spread of the disease have serious implications for the conduct of WASSCE Candidates, 2020 as agreed by the National Officers”.
The memo continues: “consequently, the Registrar directs:
- the WASSCE(SC) 2020 Timetable be suspended until further notice;
- the conduct of WASSCE(SC)2020 be put on on hold until further notice;
- directives (1) and (2) will be reviewed when the health situation improves.
The proposal for the rescheduling of the examination according to the memo was approved by Chairman of the Council.
