Ashesi University has been ranked the best Ghanaian university in the latest global rankings released by the Times Higher Education (THE).
The Ghanaian institution came ninth on the African continent in the University Impact Rankings which is the only global performance table that assesses universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ashesi was one of three Ghanaian universities accepted to the 2020 table that ranked 766 universities across 85 countries. University of Ghana (UG) and the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) also made the cut.
The not-for-profit institution was ranked among the top 400 institutions which made the greatest impact in the world, while UPSA and UG, the nation’s premier university, ranked in the top 600.
The THE rankings recognized Ashesi University for its contribution to poverty alleviation (SDG 1), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Clean Water & Sanitation (SDG 6), Affordable & Clean Energy (SDG 7) and Partnerships for the SDG goals (SDG 17).
