The chief of Agric-Nzema near Kwadaso in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region has promised to absorb fifty percent of the electricity bills of residents in his traditional area.
The move, according to Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo, is to lessen the financial burden the partial lockdown has brought upon his subjects.
He made the pledge after donating two thousand bags of rice, two thousand cartons of cooking oil and thousand cartons of sardine to residents of the area.
Speaking after the donation, Nana Nkansah said, the welfare of his people is his prime concern and would always support his subjects and ensure they live in happiness and dignity as is incumbent on a leader.
He further announced an additional arrangement to give every resident a GH¢50 stipend to support their budget, especially those whose businesses and sources of livelihood have been affected by the lockdown.
