Ghana Loses 5 More Patients To COVID-19; Death Toll Hits 16

The Ghana Health Service has reported five new coronavirus deaths in the past two days, pushing the death toll to sixteen.

Ghana’s case count rose by 121 newly confirmed cases to cap the national tally at 1,671, Director-General of the Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye said on Tuesday.

At the daily press briefing in Accra, Dr. Kuma Aboagye said, some thirty-three (33) patients who were receiving treatment for COVID-19 at various facilities, have recovered.

Total recoveries now stand at 188 since the last update on Sunday April 26, while 1,461 of the active cases are responding to treatment.

Six of the patients being treated are said to be either moderately ill or in critical condition.

Four regions, the Bono, Bono East, Ahafo and Savannah are yet to record cases, while the Greater Accra leads with 1,433 as at Tuesday April 28, 2020.
