Water shortage hits Yendi
Residents in long queues for water can report that acute water shortage has hit Yendi and its surrounding communities.

The main source of water which is the Oti river is almost dried up whilst the taps have not been opened by the Ghana Water Company for over a month.

The situation has forced many residents in the area to queue for several hours before getting water.

According to residents, they have the alternative of queuing for several hours before getting water or they have to buy from water tankers at exorbitant prices.

The reveal that a barrel of water goes for GHC60.00

“Actually it’s very serious, the main source of the water which is river Oti is gradually drying and the GWC has stopped opening the taps for almost a month now.

“We are dying and we want an immediate solution”.
