Surely, the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants, the prophets, a quote from the book of Amos chapter three verse seven informing us of the responsibility of the prophet, an inspired teacher and proclaimer of the will of God, in religion and the society at large.
Visions, prophetic dreams and trance were avenues through which God communicated with His people. And biblical times were witnesses of prophets like Elijah, Elisha, Moses, through whom God delivered the Israelites, Samuel, who anointed Saul and David at their appointed times and not forgetting Agabus whose prophecy about famine came to pass during the reign of Emperor Claudius.
And these signs and wonders through the prophets proved the superiority of the almighty.
‘’And afterwards, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams and your young men will see visions,’’ is a quote in Joel chapter two verse twenty-eight that indicates that per the plans of God in communication with man He had a future plan of demonstrating it in might.
