COVID-19 in GH: 178 new cases push national count to 6,096

Ghana’s confirmed cases have risen to 6,069

The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ghana have surged past six thousand following the announcement of one hundred and seventy eight new cases on Wednesday.

According to the latest update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), there have been 6,096 total cases as at May 20, with recoveries hovering around 1,773.

Ghana’s COVID-19-related death toll is pegged at 31 as there were no fatalities after the last update on Tuesday.

Ahafo, Bono East and Savannah still have no confirmed cases while Accra maintains its status as the national coronavirus hotspot.

The regional breakdown of cases is as follows;

  1. Greater Accra Region – 4,536
  2. Ashanti Region – 886
  3. Central Region – 258
  4. Western Region – 111
  5. Eastern Region – 100
  6. Western North Region – 57
  7. Volta Region – 41
  8. Northern Region – 31
  9. Oti Region – 26
  10. Upper East Region – 26
  11. Upper West Region – 21
  12. North East Region – 2
  13. Bono Region – 1
  14. Savannah Region – 0
  15. Ahafo Region – 0
  16. Bono East Region – 0
