An excavator operator, Derrick Amponsah, has been handed a seven-year jail term for defiling a fifteen year-old SHS student at Manso Yawkrom in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
The 27-year-old was convicted on his own plea at the Bekwai Circuit Court presided over by Her Lordship, Joyce Boahen.
Narrating the incident to the court, the Prosecutor, Detective Inspector Stephen Ofori said, at about 11 am on April 15, 2020, Amponsah called the victim on phone to go and wash his cloths in his house.
The accused returned home at about 1pm to find the cloths unwashed and so he went to the victim’s house to call her but she refused to turn up.
Amponsah followed up again and managed to convince the girl to follow him. Upon reaching his house, the accused reportedly dragged her inside his room and raped her after she objected to enter the room.
The victim’s clitoris was bitten in the process, and according to medical reports read during the trial, the accused broke the victim’s hymen after abusing her with his mouth, fingers and penis.
Amponsah was later arrested following a report to the police and he subsequently admitted to committing the crime.
