Local residents receive food aid during COVID-19 lockdown

Exactly two months after reporting its first two cases, Ghana’s coronavirus case count has risen to 5,127, with death toll hovering around 22.

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) at a press briefing on Tuesday announced an increase of 427 new cases since the last update on Sunday May 10, when the national tally stood at 4,700 with 494 recoveries.

According to the GHS, some 130 patients receiving treatment are awaiting to be declared recovered if exit test return negative.

So far, thirteen regions have recorded confirmed COVID-19 cases, with the Greater Accra region declared the nation’s hotspot.

The Bono East, Ahafo and Savannah regions remain Ghana’s virgin enclaves for the coronavirus pandemic.
