The Ahafo Region has recorded its first case of coronavirus case, GhanaXtra.Com can report.
The patient, a health official reportedly contracted the virus after coming into contact with a patient who visited the St Theresa’s Hospital at Hwidiem.
Sources reveal that the patient who was later referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital tested positive COVID-19 prompting authorities at the St. Theresa’s to conduct testing on personnel who came into contact with the patient.
According to the Ahafo Regional Health Director, Dr. Boakye Boateng, all measures have been put in place to prevent community spread.
“The patient is currently in an isolation and receiving treatment at Goaso the Ahafo Regional capital. The person is doing very well he is not sick, we have begun contact tracing.”
The Ahafo region was the only region yet to record a positive since the outbreak of the virus in the country.
Ghana’s case count currently stands at 9,910 positive cases with 3,645 recoveries and 48 casualties.
