GH COVID-19 Daily Update: 4 new deaths recorded as case count goes beyond 9,000

Four new coronavirus-related fatalities have been reported by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) as the nationwide case count jumped from 8,885 to 9,168 on Friday.

The new casualties, the second highest recorded in one day, ever since the virus berthed in Ghana, sends the national death toll to 42.

In its latest update on Ghana’s COVID-19 situation, the GHS indicated that within the last 24 hours, it has declared some 268 patients free of the virus, bringing the total recoveries to 3,457.

Ghana’s active coronavirus cases now stand at 5,669.

With case count consistently rising in Greater Accra and Ashanti, the new Ahafo region remains without a confirmed COVID-19 case.

  5. Eastern Region – 162
  6. Volta Region – 102
  7. Western North Region – 73
  8. Upper East Region – 42

  11. Upper West Region – 22
  12. Bono East Region – 6
  13. North East Region – 2
  14. Savannah Region – 1
