The Medical Superintendent of the Kwadaso SDA Hospital in Kumasi in the Ashanti region, Dr. Harry Boateng has died of COVID-19, the Ghana Health Service has confirmed.
Dr. Boateng (the pediatrician) reportedly died at home over the weekend, while self-isolating after coming into contact with a COVID-19 patient in the line of duty.
Official confirmation from the Ghana Health Service indicates that his blood sample came out positive for the virus.
Meanwhile, GhanaXtra.Com is reliably informed that a rigorous contact tracing exercise has started in line with insisting protocols to trace people who came into contact with Dr. Boateng.
Ghana’s COVID-19 case count has shot up to 11,964, President Nana Akufo-Addo revealed on Sunday evening.
Speaking on measures taken on the spread of Coronavirus, President Akufo-Addo revealed that three more people have died of COVID-19 taking the fatalities to 54.
The total number of positive cases has cumulatively increased to 11,964, out of the 254, 331 tests conducted.
