Managing Director of the Nyaho Medical Centre, Dr. Elikem Tamaklo did not contract the virus from his facility, an official has said.
A statement released by the hospital’s Media Liaison Officer, Ms Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson confirmed on Saturday that Dr. Tamaklo and his family had tested positive for the virus on June 4, 2020.
According to Ms Rockson, Dr. Tamaklo is currently well and has been in quarantine together with his family, in accordance with laid down protocols, since testing postive for the virus.
“Dr. Tamaklo and his family are currently under quarantine and will be compliant with all the necessary guidance from the District Health team who have worked closely with Nyaho Medical Centre in the follow up and treatment of patients,” she said.
She, however, disclosed that the Managing Director did not acquire the virus while working at the facility but possibly through community infections, having been absent from the Medical Centre for some time now.
“Over the last two weeks, Dr Tamaklo was not physically present on the hospital premises and thus, we can confirm that the exposure was from the community,” she disclosed.
She noted that as part of the facility’s business continuity measures, the MD and some non-clinical staff have been working remotely since March 23, and will continue do so through virtual meetings as the Medical Centre goes ahead with its 24-hour services.
