The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwa has tested positive for Coronavirus, this portal has learnt.
Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwa has since been quarantined and undergoing treatment.
The Director-General contracted the virus after members of the 11-member committee charged with the responsibility of fashioning out modalities towards the reopening of schools were exposed to the virus.
According to sources, members of the committee were exposed to an infected person in the line of duty.
So far, five members of the committee have tested positive for the virus with the rest yet to positive in self-isolation.
Already, Yaw Osafo-Maafo Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Dan Botwe, Carlos Ahenkorah, Peter Mac Manu, and other top government officials have all tested positive for the virus.
