Kafaba Chief Picked Over Lynching Of 90-Year-Old Alleged Witch

The Savannah Regional Police Command has picked up the chief of Kafaba, Zackaria Yahaya.

He was reportedly arrested at Damongo and is assisting the police in investigations.

The arrest of the chief is in relation to the death of the 90-year-old woman, Akua Denteh who was allegedly lynched for being a witch.

The chief who has been linked with the incident has been accused of inviting the self-styled witch doctor who accused the old woman of being a witch.

According to the Regional Commander, DCOP Enock Adutwum Bediako, Zackaria Yahaya was picked up by the police today around 10:00 am.

The suspect, DCOP Enock Adutwum Bediako reveals is currently being interrogated by a four-member panel to know his involvement in the issue that claimed the life of the old woman.

” I can confirm that today around 10:00 am, the Kafaba Chief was arrested in Damongo by the Regional Police Command. We are interrogating him to know the side of the story too”.

Madam Akua Denteh believed to be in her 90’s was lynched for allegedly being a witch in Kafaba in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah region.

The ordeal of the poor old woman follows allegations by a soothsayer that the old lady was a witch.
