The New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Bono Region has withdrawn the membership of disqualified parliamentary aspirant, Mr. Bernard Oduro Takyi.
According to the party, the decision has become necessary following Bernard Oduro Takyi’s “anti-party utterances, actions, and Machiavellian maneuvers and rendezvous”.
A letter addressed to B.O.T as he is affectionately and sighted by GhanaXtra.Com warns him not to hold himself as a member of the New Patriotic Party.
Part of the letter reads: ” Bernard Oduro Takyi has on his own will without any compulsion automatically given up his membership of the New Patriotic Party”.
The letter continues that ” Consequently, he is not to hold himself out as a member of the party anywhere across the levels of the party’s structure(Polling station, constituency, Regional, National and any other groupings in the party)”.
Bernard Oduro Takyi was seeking to unseat the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah to represent the Sunyani West on the ticket of the NPP.
The former Presiding Member of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly, however, had his dream dashed as he was disqualified by the National Executive Committee.
He has since declared his intention to contest as an independent candidate.
