It has emerged that veteran Ghanaian journalists, Mr. Ben Ephson, Kweku Baako Jnr. and Kwesi Pratt used to be very good footballers.
The three veterans of the inky fraternity in their hay days played for a football team called the Media XI.
The revelation was made by the Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Ben Ephson.
Speaking with Captain Smart on the ‘Anᴐpa Bᴐfo’, Uncle Ben revealed that even though he at a point played for Alabama, a Third Division team, he had to quit football because of his ill health as a sickle cell (SCD) patient.
The pollster singled out ace journalists, Kweku Baako Jnr., Kwesi Pratt Jnr., and Kabral Blay Amihere as some of his team members at Media IX.
“It is in Ghana that we fail to keep records, I’ve played football with one Joe Baah, who was a goalkeepers’ trainer for Kotoko. We used to play at the third Division for Alabama and our training ground was the Nima Police Station Park…
“What made me to quit [football] and subsequently put on weight is that I am a ‘sickler’. Yes, I am SC, since the age of 11”.
