The Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has stated that should NDC come to power, they will provide free sanitary pads to girls in schools.
According to her, some girls are unable to attend school because they do not have access to sanitary pads as a result of poverty.
Naana Jane reveals that staying home because one lacks a sanitary pad for proper menstrual hygiene is unfair and therefore girls will be provided sanitary pads.
She made the promise at the launch of the ‘ People’s Manifesto’ of the NDC.
Meanwhile, a perusal of the manifesto has revealed that the party has captured that promise and is expected to implement it if it wins the December elections.
The promise is captured under manufacturing as:
The next NDC Government will:
a. promote local production of hygiene products for women including sanitary pads
through training and support for start-ups to support the free distribution of sanitary
pads to school girls.
