The Member of Parliament-elect for the Assin North Constituency, Mr. James Gyakye Quayson has been sighted in parliament.
With the 8th Parliament set to be inaugurated after midnight, Mr. James Gyakye Quayson who has been barred by the Cape Coast High Court from carrying himself as the MP-elect for Assin North is with other colleagues in the chamber.
It remains unclear what decision will be taken concerning his status by the leadership of parliament as he is in clear contempt.
The Cape Coast High court has on Wednesday, January 5, 2020, placed an injunction on the Member of Parliament-elect for the Assin North Constituency, Mr. James Gyakye Quayson.
The court ruled that James Gyakye Quayson cannot hold himself as the MP-elect for the constituency.
This was after one Michael Ankomah -Nimfa of Assin Bereku filed a petition seeking to annul the declaration of Mr. James Gyakye Quayson as the Member of Parliament (MP) elect for the Assin North Constituency.
According to the petition, Mr. Quayson owes allegiance to both Ghana and Canada which contravenes the provision of Article 94 (2) (a) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
