A former Chairman of the Narcotics Control Board under the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufour, General Joshua Hamidu is dead, GhanaXtra.Com can report.

General Joshua Hamidu was popularly known as the father of military intelligence.
General Joshua Mahamadu Hamidu was born in Yendi in the Northern Region in the year 1936.
He was the one-time Chief of Defence Staff and a member of the Supreme Military Council.
When the NPP came to power in 2000, he was made the National Security Adviser to John Agyekum Kufuor.
He served as Chairman of the Narcotics Control Board and some boards of the Bank of Ghana.
General Joshua Hamidu also served as Ghana’s High commissioner to Nigeria and Zambia.
