Teachers in the country will be smiling to the bank when they visit their respective banks for their November 2021 salaries.
The government of Ghana in line with its promise has for the second year running paid the Professional Development Allowance(PDA) to teachers in all public pre-tertiary educational institutions.
GhanaXtra.Com can report that the Ministry of Finance has released funds for the payment of the allowance for the year 2021 and has reflected on the validation voucher for the month of November 2021.
Professional teachers will be receiving an amount of GH¢1,200 in addition to their monthly salaries whilst non-professional teachers will receive an amount of GH¢800.
However, each teacher has been deducted an amount of GH¢ 547 as the 30% cost under the government’s one-teacher one laptop policy.
The Akufo-Addo led administration in 2020 introduced the Professional Development Allowance for both teaching and non-teaching staff of the Ghana Education Service in November 2020.
The move forms part of the government’s efforts to improve education instituted a new incentive for teachers and non-teaching staff dubbed ‘Teacher Professional Allowance’ for their continuous professional development.
